Serpent Noble

Uncommon Class

Prime Attribute: Charisma

Hit Dice: 1d6+1 HP per level through Level 9. +2 HP each level thereafter.

Armor: Any non-Heavy.

Weapons: Any.

Class Features

Blood Drinking: The Serpent Noble’s parasitic relationship with humanity is not only metaphorical. When the Serpent Noble hits with a Bite attack, it can drink the blood of a sentient opponent and regain 1 point of Constitution or 1 HP for each 1 HP of blood drained. The Serpent Noble can begin to drain blood on the round after a successful bite, draining 1d8 HP each round. The victim can break free by Testing Their Luck at the beginning of their own turn.

Empire of the Wyrm (Level 9): As a Serpent Noble gains power and influence among humans, his fellow Serpent People will begin to flock to his domain, whether to challenge him or ally themselves with him.

Human Mimicry: Long millennia of hiding among humans has given the Serpent Nobles uncanny powers of mimicry. They can appear in the form of any human they have met previously. This is an illusion effect and is detectable and defeatable by effects that would reveal or detect an illusion. It includes full sensory mimicry – voice, scent, touch are all indistinguishable from the chosen human form. Many animals remember the cruelty of the Serpent Kings, however, and attempt to warn of the deception.

Hypnotic: Serpent Nobles can dominate humans with their gaze. Treat this as a charm person spell cast by a Sorcerer of equal level. The Serpent Noble can use this power up to twice each day.

Serpent Form: When they assume their natural serpent form, the Serpent Nobles can attack either with a Bite or their Claws. Using a weapon attack forfeits these natural weaponry attacks. In addition, their scaly hide grants them an AC of 5. This does not stack with armor worn, however.

Spell Casting: The Serpent Noble casts spells as a Sorcerer. They begin knowing only Black Magic spells, but can learn Gray Magic normally given the opportunity. They can never learn White Magic. Serpent Nobles do not suffer Corruption from casting Black Magic.

Survey the Herd: Serpent Nobles are adept at assessing their human hosts. They may make a Skill Test to evaluate a group of humans, choosing to learn one of the following facts about them with a success:

Who is most dangerous to me?

Who has been touched by magic?

Who is the weakest, and how can they be broken?
